Metal Detector Reviews
Because of the long history and growing popularity of metal detecting worldwide there is now a large variety of metal detectors currently on the market for all levels and types of treasure hunting. If you’re hunting for a metal detector it can be a little overwhelming. You can find everything from $70 metal detectors that are simple to operate up to highly specialized detectors costing upwards of a thousand dollars. We decided to focus on some of the most popular metal detectors on the market.
We’ve tested and reviewed a variety of metal detectors that were designed for all types of detecting. So with that in mind here are our top reviews and ratings for metal detectors.
A top pick for one of the best metal detectors is the Fisher F75! The F75 sports a good size and easy to read LCD screen which has a backlit feature to help with metal detecting during the evening hours when the sun is setting. This display has a 0-99 numeric readout referring to the depth of the coil settings, sensitivity, etc. The screen also has a really nice target identification display which highlights the type of find it is detecting.
On every hobbyist mind is this metal detector by Fisher and comes with a 5-year manufacturer backed warranty. It is the Fisher Gold Bug 2 as our 2nd place metal detector based on a few very specific features that no other metal detector can compete with.
The Teknetics Omega 8000 metal detector wins our award for the top 5 and is based on a combination of performance, price point, and overall features. The Omega 8000 is part of the Teknetics family of metal detectors. Teknetics is a newer metal detector manufacturer compared to Fisher or Garrett, but they still have over 27 years of history designing innovative metal detectors.
Garrett Metal Detectors are among the best in the industry. With many units to choose from, we picked the 250 model out of the “Ace” series because of it’s functionality, simplicity and design for a mid-low end multi-purpose metal detector. Garrett has a long and excellent reputation for building metal detectors. They’ve been building units since the 1960’s.
Bounty Hunter makes some of the most popular metal detectors and is one of the widely advertised gadgets on the market today. For the most part Bounty Hunter units are more standard with fewer options and minus the spiffy looking LCD displays and features. The Bounty Hunter Lone Star is our 5th place pick and is a strong candidate for an entry-level detector, a great model to gain success at the basics of metal detecting

FAQ; Q.What metal detector were you using when you recorded this video? A.Minelab E-Trac. Q. I'm thinking of taking up this as a hobby, what metal detector would you recommend to me? A. The Garrett Ace 250 offers a good compromise between price, ease of use and performance. Q. Do you ever sell your finds? Will you sell an item to me? A. No, I never sell any finds. Every item recovered stays in my collection if the owner (loser) cannot be traced. Q. Where can I buy one of those plastic sand scoops? A. Many online retailers sell them, just type 'plastic sand scoop' into your favourite search engine. I'd like to say thank-you to Pingstick (Dave), who was already on the beach searching when I arrived to record this video. He kindly agreed to show his awesome finds on camera and helped me record some scenes. Best watched in HD.

can you find gold, silver with a weapons metal detector? the small hand size ones or are they for difrent typyes of metal??
A well you could do what my grandfather used to do to test his metal detector..... get someone to place a coin ring and teaspoon under a rug and than you try to find it with the metal detector... that will make you familiar with the signals.. but beware if you plan on going to the beach to look for coins take gloves and a hand shovel, as idiots drop needles on beaches and metal detectors will pick up the metal in needles, especialy if your metal detector is a good one Happy Hunting
